What is STEM and what is STEAM?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths.

Why are they important?

Looking to the future, many countries have realised that these are the core areas of development and need to be focused upon in schools.  The subjects can be taught discretely, however often a cross-curricular approach is taken and students are engaged in project based learning.
